Saturday Poetry - To Build A Home

Saturday Poetry - To Build A Home

Streamlining this pain out of my existence
Into the world
Is like burning my whole house down
to bake a loaf of bread

The undulation slowly subsides
And fades away like your eyes
As her blue/green ocean hair returns
To catch remnants of her natural dark shadows of the moonlight, I remember

The ghost of you is all that you've become
Like a flash bang grenade of a thousand suns
And now, I found the fire
And now, I'm building a home

To think our love would last a thousand years or more
Would you still take the chance,
Even after the foul tasting medicine we both spoon-fed each other?
The trash I met and took curbside
Found it's usual space with weekly visits from the outsiders

I would walk for forty years
Just to find your land of milk & honey
I have found myself and am building a home

Wooden chairs and tables full of dust
Until the day we disappear
From me, from you

I've grown numb and tired of walking all the time
All my friends in mind have turned to enemies
Lost between the vein of my existence and the ocean sea
I lost the chance without even looking, and violently wrecked what's left over
And I'm building a home

Let's steal a dance in the sky
with time glancing over from high
& quench our minds like water for chocolate

While we're still here

You can choose your steps, I'll take mine
Build a home and collapse our palm lines
We'll catch the sea salt & turn on the water to clean our soul
Everything is possible, when God is in control

The bicycle moves forward & became conscious of it's cyclical nature
Maybe it's fate here, where I plant the seeds of a garden
Where all the sins may become pardoned
And love's light can shine to provide
A myriad of wild fruits, flowers and bees
That'll teach thee how to love, laugh and sing
That'll help you and me
Get by and
Build that home
That we both seek
And we'll one day find
That the treasure all along
Was the secret in your eyes
The kingdom of Heaven in your heart
And that all we had to do is just stop
Ask God & start
To Build a home

Now that the bread is ready, fire is on, trash is out, & water is running amidst the spout
The garden has sprung
The cats are running amok and love has captured us

Furnished happenings all about the room yearly
Home isn't a home until you love yourself and the people in that home love you sincerely

And so it seems when the dust comes off the tables and midsummer night dreams
Catch you and offer the scene of your favorite film after the dinner & dessert creams
I'll fix the grapes into red wine shaped realities

& find the sweet fragrance in taking my time to build this home for you and I
Was worth traversing around the world to understand the world was moving and conspiring to help build our castle in the sky, all the while
I
was moving, staying in place
Turning over the gift and the patience to wait
Easing into her heart, letting go and casting the stones
Building with Norwegian wood from the start would be good and make us whole
Held on as tightly as we could
Over the years the wind would try to take us away

So we understood:

That until we meet again and this is finished
I hope these words never diminish and someday we'll slip into the sea

And the home that we built together will turn to dust
All the while our love will float on across the universe

We'll disembark on another journey into the dark
Except this time we won't have to travel as far
To find, our home is always right where we are
